Welcome
The Purpose of the Prosser Community Volunteers is to facilitate and coordinate opportunities for all individuals in the Prosser Community to work more closely together in providing charitable service.
The Goals of the Prosser Community Volunteers include:
- Building positive relationships within the community
- Build relationships between churches, community leaders, schools, the hospital, and community organizations
- Providing charitable service to meet community needs
- Matching service projects with volunteers and managing/scheduling projects (full meal deal)
- Fostering unity within our community
- Provide volunteer opportunities for youth
How Does It Work?
Volunteers are registered in the Prosser Community (PCV) Volunteer database, which is used to coordinate projects and notify them of opportunities. All potential projects and recipients are screened using criteria developed by the Board of Directors of PCV. Examples of projects would include, but not be limited to, community and individual service projects, delivering food to shut-ins, providing rides for appointments, helping the needy, repackaging bulk produce for distribution to food bank patrons, and building ramps for handicapped individuals. Registered volunteers receive email and text notifications of upcoming projects, which they can sign up for online. Once signed up, the volunteers will receive email and text reminders of the project a day or two in advance of the project implementation. Project supervisors are assigned to all projects and are present to coordinate efforts, ensure materials and supplies are available, and close out the project or activity upon completion.
Volunteer hours accumulated on sponsored activities by youth 14 to 18 years of age qualify as community service hours required for advancement in high school. We do NOT offer community service hours for court-ordered requirements.
